twenty fifteen

I rang in the new year for 2015 at a swanky nightclub inside the Hard Rock Hotel in beautiful San Diego. Adventure club played the soundtrack of my night while we sipped over priced champagne and dreamed of what an incredible year was on the horizon. Oh man was my head in the clouds. 2015 was probably one of the most intense years of my life. When people say “live life to the fullest”, I truly feel that I could not have had a more “filled” year.

I started off 2015 unemployed. Yes, this was by choice so don’t feel bad for me. I quit my job at the Ritz Carlton and set off on a wild adventure. Against the advice of some elders, I didn’t seem to think there would be any consequences to my actions, and honestly there were none. If you ever feel trapped and that what you are doing is not benefitting your well being, than my advice is get out. Get out while you are young and talented, and while you still have a zest for life. There is so much this world has to offer me and I was dead set on trying to obtain it all.

The day before NYE I was at a rave. The day before that, Vegas. I was on a roll. Following around a group of extremely talented music producers and friends who have residency at my favorite hotel, Encore. Hard Rock for Adventure Club was continuing the party and I was loving every minute. From there I drove to Mammoth and boarded some of the best powder of the year. After that I ended up in Rosarito Mexico, partying in a high rise penthouse over looking the ocean. Straight from Mexico I drove back to Las Vegas for another show Encore’s nightclub XS. This is January.

February 2015. My first trip to Hawaii. My family rents an incredible home just outside The Grand Wailea on Maui. This was ten days of relaxation in paradise with those who matter most.Being a basic tourist (enter white girl emoji here) we saw the entire island while driving the famous Road to Hana. Jumped in the seven sacred pools, and ate the most incredible road side fish and chips (second trip to Oahu blew these basic truck snacks out of the water, and different story coming soon) Mahalo Maui!

March 2015. Freshies. LOTS of freshies. The snow at Mammoth was great last year in March. Random week day trips were very frequent (Thanks to el Nino its epic in 2016) I used my season pass as much as I could. Air+Style was also this month. Oh, and yes I am still unemployed in case you were wondering. Air + Style was a giant snow ramp in the middle of Pasadena while big names like Kendrick Lamar blasted in the background. Thanks Shawn White. More random concerts, blah blah  please don’t hate me yet.10413336_10204429371588265_4825519654839411124_n

April 2015. Ahh.. my favorite month of the year. This is when I fell in love with Coachella. I have a long piece in the works about our love story but that I will save for another time. Being lost in the Polo Fields for my first time was life changing. I enjoyed every second (and some perhaps I enjoyed a tad too much) but I would not change a single thing. I learned what being severely dehydrated felt like, but also learned the kindness of strangers. I learned my limits followed by my tolerance. I made new friends that I consider family now and we are already planning this coming return for us all to reunite under the basking sun. This month was eye opening for me because Coachella is the reason I am now a small business owner. (details on that journey also to come) Oh, and by the end of the month I got a job! 4 months unemployed really does a wonder on your bank account! But hey, the memories are priceless.11035971_10204720572468105_6058689811933473881_n

May 2015. Back to the suck. The life of a waiter. Even worse, a fine dining waiter. I hated that penguin suit. But wait, theres a Yellowclaw show at Dive in SD? I am on my way!19513_10204931169452898_1801148408182066046_n

June 2015. My birthday lasts all month. Starting off with some scuba diving in the vivid underwater park on Catalina Island then taking out a buddies boat and making one my most brightest decisions to catch a flying drone and almost lose a finger. Sorry Rob. This was also the month I am over being single and tried out Bumble (which is the ONLY dating app I will ever recommend ladies.) I met the man who currently holds my heart in June, and yes we met on Bumble. This is when my year really starts to take off! Seemed a little boring up until now right? First dates are so much fun, and there never is a shortage of things to talk the night away about. Such as, “hey babe, there’s a death cab for cutie show in LA in about 5 hours.. why do we not have tickets yet? 🙂11659380_10205243946112119_8428889417220345430_n

July 2015. His birthday lasts all month too, go figure. Flying lessons over the coast. This was pretty awesome, and I pat myself quietly on the back for that brilliant idea. I have never seen someone so happy. Concerts, Street Fest in San Clemente, and tickets to the AVP Volleyball Tournament were just a few birthday festivities.11147116_10205418811843653_4027334673908067922_n

August 2015. Eat. Sleep. Rave. Repeat. Hard Summer.11015919_10206042640798987_1862354872120396914_o

September 2015. Spontaneous road trip up the California coast with my love. No camping reservations? No problem. We will sleep in the car on the side of the road in Big Sur, and stare at the complete blackness and discuss the vastness of the world we live in. Followed by Hearst Castle in San Simeon, and a day in Livermore to see the birth of my newest cousin, James. Oh, and another rave once we get back to Orange County. Mad Decent Bloc Party in San Diego. Wait, one more on the beach in Huntington. Sundown here we come.11986593_10205693902960759_2575949294817464449_n

October 2015. Years & Years (best intimate show I have seen all year) and Rudimental at the Fonda Theater, which had the most intense drums and bass I have felt at a show. Both unforgettable shows. Topping at the end of the month, I get to return to Hawaii, but this time with a local. A week on Oahu hiking waterfalls, laying on the beach, eating the most delectable local food, helping out a golf event on the majestic north shore at Turtle Bay, meeting my other half’s family and friends, then ending with a little cowboy and indian Halloween night out on the town. Do we really need to go home now?12015037_10205817086760277_4574582443190213976_o

November 2015. From the islands to the snow. We are back at Mammoth Mountain. Oh, and this is turkey month! Family arrives from up north for Thanksgiving. Deep fried turkey coma.12375203_10206196524045972_7085923172781594077_o

December 2015: Coming to an close we start with Slander at Sutra, then Odesza at the Shrine. A quick trip to Bear, a weekend trip to Mammoth. Good times, good friends, good food. We end with a bang, throwing a NYE party with our adopted family, looking and feeling like a million bucks. I promised myself at the beginning of the year, listening to Adventure club and staring at the clock to strike midnight that this was going to be my year. That my year was going to be filled with memories that I can take back to my grandkids. Quitting my mediocre job, making new friends, blowing all my money on concert tickets (you don’t want to know the grand total that cost me) and just living! Living my life how I wanted to. Not following what others thought I should do.12291039_10206120504905541_9180952852188586310_o

Coming into 2016 my resolutions are simple. Stop worrying about what others think of me. There is a quote from the book I am currently reading about the CEO of Nasty Gal, Sophia Amaruso, who is a true rag to riches story that quotes “the energy you will expend focusing on someone else’s life is better spent working on your own. Be your own idol” I want to scream at the top of my lungs I love this quote so much! Yes, I will be my own idol, because in the end there is only me. I am the only person who can truly make me happy, and you know what? I live an awesome life! This past year has shown that to me. So no matter how much money you have in the bank, or what you do or don’t do for work, as long as you fall asleep feeling like you really gave it your all and loved every second of it, you my friend are truly living. I will not spend any more of my energy thinking about what others think of me. I am proud of who I am, and what I plan on starting. I want to be able to create memories and friendships like mine for others. To make it easy I want to be able to plan this for you! If you chose to join and follow the ride you will have the most unforgettable life experiences and hopefully pass them on to others. 2016, I can’t believe I am saying it, will be even better than last.
